Simpson Electric Hawk 3 Digital Panel Meter / Controller

The Simpson Hawk 3 is Simpson Electric’s precision digital panel meter and controller, configurable as a 4-1/2 digit or 3-1/2 digit LED display for DC / AC voltage, DC / AC current, or resistance. Best-case accuracy of plus/minus 0.05 percent of reading puts the Hawk 3 well above what a general-purpose digital panel meter delivers – it is the instrument to specify when calibration-lab accuracy matters and a general-purpose panel meter’s plus/minus 0.5 percent isn’t enough. The 4-1/2 digit configuration gives 20,000-count resolution on the display, which is the resolution range engineering buyers typically expect when the Hawk 3 shows up on a calibration-traceable process instrument list.

Front-panel programming covers all parameters without a PC, and optional 4-20 mA or 0-10 DCV analog retransmission lets the Hawk 3 drive a PLC analog input, chart recorder, or SCADA feed from the same measurement displayed locally – one instrument reads the signal, displays it on the panel, and hands it upstream to the control system without a separate signal converter. The H345 variant adds RS-485 for MODBUS integration, and the sensor excitation option (12 V or 24 V) powers external transducers directly from the meter without a separate supply. The Hawk 3 is UL Listed and shares the 1/8 DIN panel-mount opening common to the S660 counter series, which simplifies mixed Hawk 3 and S660 installations on the same control panel.
