Simpson Electric GIMA 400 3-Phase Energy and Power Sub-Meter

The Simpson GIMA 400 is a 96 x 96 mm DIN 3-phase energy and power sub-meter for facility-level electrical monitoring, tenant sub-billing, and integration into building automation and energy-management systems. Auto-CT rotation is the practical hook on retrofit installs – the meter figures out the phase orientation from the CT signal rather than requiring re-terminated field wiring, which typically saves an electrician’s half-day on a live-panel retrofit. Beyond kWh, the GIMA 400 also captures reactive energy (kVArh), demand, power factor, and hours-run – the parameter set utilities and landlords typically want for demand-based billing and tenant allocation, not just the raw energy total.

Three communication configurations cover the common integration paths: pulse output for legacy pulse-counting energy systems, MODBUS RS485 for PLC and DCS installations, and IP Ethernet with built-in web pages, 60-parameter logging, and SNMP for direct feed into energy-management software. Optional harmonics analysis measures individual harmonics to the 15th and THD to the 30th – the deeper diagnostic buyers typically want after installing variable-frequency drives, welders, or other harmonic-heavy loads on the same panel. The GIMA 400 accepts mV or 5/1 A CT input for both retrofit and new-build installations, is CE and UL certified, and carries a 5-year warranty. As an authorized Simpson Electric distributor, BriceBarclay quotes and orders the GIMA 400 direct from Simpson – request a configured quote and we will confirm the option combination and factory lead time.
