The Simpson 260-8P is the LED-lighted variant of the Simpson 260 analog VOM series, built for low-light service work where the operator needs to read the analog scale without a separate flashlight. A rechargeable LED dial-illumination system lights the scale card directly, and a rear-facing LED flashlight illuminates the connection points during measurement – one instrument handles both the reading and the lighting-of-the-work, which is one-handed measurement instead of a two-handed juggle in a dim electrical closet or generator room.

The 260-8P adds a resettable relay overload protection circuit with audible continuity check, an upgrade over the fuse-only protection of earlier 260-series meters, and covers 36 measurement ranges across DC and AC voltage, DC and AC current, and resistance. Two catalog variants ship – the standard 260-8P and a gasketed-lens version that adds a sealed lens cover for particulate-heavy environments.
