Mac-Weld Special Orifice Plates, Bore and Bevel, Bore and Counterbore, Segmental, Eccentric, and Quarter Round
Mac-Weld offers Special Orifice Plates including Bore and Bevel, Bore and Counterbore, Segmental, Eccentric, and Quarter Round. The Mac-Weld bore and bevel orifice plates are machined at a 45° angle to the desired edge thickness, and are typically beveled to 1/50 of the line I.D. or 1/8 of the orifice bore. The Mac-Weld bore and counterbore orifice plates are made using a special method to limit the plate edge thickness. The Mac-Weld segmentally bored orifice plates are available for measurements where solids are entrained in a gas or liquid stream. The Mac-Weld eccentrically bored orifice plates have an off-center orifice, and the bore is normally inscribed in a circle that is 98% of the pipe diameter so that solids or slurries may pass through. The Mac-Weld quarter round orifice plate is thicker than standard plates, has an orifice with a rounded inlet edge, and is specifically designed for highly viscous flows having Reynolds Numbers below 4,000, such as heavy crudes, syrups, and slurries.
