BriceBarclay is a Vortex Flow Meter Distributor.
Vortex flow meters, or flowmeters, work by detecting fluid velocity through a principle called the von Kármán effect. This principle explains that as fluid flows past an obstruction, such as a bluff body, it creates a series of swirling vortices. These vortices cause a small sensor, positioned either behind or within the obstructing structure (known as the shedder bar), to move back and forth at a consistent rate. The frequency of this movement directly corresponds to the velocity of the fluid.
These meters are ideal for flow measurements where using moving parts pose challenges. They come in various constructions like industrial-grade, brass, or all-plastic. They’re not very sensitive to changes in process conditions and, because they have no moving parts, they experience relatively low wear compared to other flow meter types.
